Dental emergencies are painful, stressful, and unpredictable. At Riverside Family Dentistry, we reserve same-day appointments for patients in acute pain or with dental trauma. Call us first and we will get you seen as quickly as possible.
When you are in dental pain, you need help fast. We reserve a portion of our schedule every day specifically for patients experiencing dental emergencies. Whether you are a long-term patient or you have never been to our practice before, call (512) 974-2000 and we will work to get you an appointment the same day. Our goal is to relieve your pain, stabilize the situation, and develop a plan to address the underlying issue.
Any situation causing significant pain, swelling, bleeding, or trauma to your teeth or mouth is a dental emergency. A severe toothache, a knocked-out tooth, a broken tooth with sharp edges, or swelling that is spreading to your face or neck are all situations that need same-day attention. If you are unsure, call us and describe your symptoms. We will tell you exactly how urgently we need to see you.
Act quickly. Pick up the tooth by the crown (the top part), not the root. If it is dirty, rinse it gently with water but do not scrub it. If possible, place it back in the socket and hold it there. If you cannot do that, put it in a container of milk or hold it between your cheek and gum. Call us immediately. The chances of saving a knocked-out tooth are highest within the first 30 to 60 minutes.
Yes, absolutely. We welcome new emergency patients even if you have never been to our practice before. Simply call (512) 974-2000, describe your situation, and we will do our best to get you in the same day. We will also collect your insurance information at that time so we can verify coverage before your visit.
The cost of emergency treatment depends entirely on what is needed once we examine you. An exam and X-ray to evaluate the problem typically runs 00 to 00. The treatment cost depends on the diagnosis. We will give you a clear picture of what is needed and what it will cost before we proceed with any treatment. We also offer financing through CareCredit for patients who need to spread out payments.
Call us or book online. Dr. Mitchell and Dr. Carter are happy to answer any questions before your appointment.
